Philippe Ruelland


Philippe Ruelland - Reservoir Geologist and Head of the Geoscience Integrated Chain (CIG) Department

Philippe is a reservoir geologist and a graduate of the University of Leeds (Bachelor of Science), Royal Holloway, University of London (Master of Science) and the ENSPM-IFP School (engineering diploma). 

In 1996, be began his career at Elf Exploration & Production as a well site geologist, then as a reservoir geologist.

With Total, Philippe completed overseas placements between 2003 and 2012, both in operations (Indonesia, Abu Dhabi) and in research (Aberdeen, Geoscience Research Centre).

In 2012, he returned to Total's headquarters in Pau as manager of the Geological Modeling Methods and Support Department, then in 2015 took over the reins of the CIG Department.

  • The Sismage-CIG project, which Philippe leads, is a strategic project for the development and maintenance of a flagship Total Exploration & Production project: the geoscience & reservoir integrated platform, Sismage-CIG. The project team consists of geoscientists and computer scientists who work completely in partnership. The team is responsible for the maintenance and development of the integrated platform, as well as for the execution and integration of new developments arising from research through a dedicated technological innovation project.

Philippe is also the author and co-author of various publications for EAGE, SPE, ADIPEC, IPTC and AAPG.
