Fort Hills is an oil sands mining project. The project is planned to mine and process 110 million tons of oil sand per year which will be transported by a mine fleet to crushing plants to be crushed and produce an ultra-heavy oil, “bitumen”. This bitumen is then mixed with a diluent (light hydrocarbon) to make it transportable and sellable.
